About Kelly

Kelly took her first pottery class at Studio TM Ceramics in Gainesville, FL in 2021. She was AWFUL! Her very patient instructor, Jack, had to rescue many of her pieces, but being just a bit stubborn, Kelly kept at it.

After several years of taking classes off and on, Kelly decided to sign up for a pottery studio membership that was starting up at her local pottery studio, Flingin' Pots, in Fort Collins, CO. With more time to explore new techniques, Kelly learned that she LOVED carving mugs.

After finding another potter's version of the "Mug for the Times," Kelly started experimenting with making her own. Posting it to her Instagram stories led to a flood of requests, and thus, Mugs and Mischief was born!

Kelly works full time as an associate professor at the University of Wyoming, and only gets to the pottery studio once or twice a week on evenings and weekends. So if you're wondering why she's a little slow at making your mug, that's part of it! The other part is that pottery is a slow art-form with many steps. But that's part of the fun!

Kelly gets tremendous joy out of seeing her mugs "in the wild," so please feel free to email photos of your new mug to kelly@mugsandmischief.com.
